Ngu Xa Bronze Casting Village, nestled next to Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district, holds a rich history dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. 

During the Le Dynasty, skilled bronze casters from the Sieu Loai and Van Lam districts brought their expertise to Ngu Xa, then Trang Ngu Xa, to establish a casting school.

Today, Ngu Xa is renowned for its exquisite bronze statues and altar objects, gracing communal houses and pagodas across Vietnam. 

Among its most famed creations is the Amitabha Buddha statue at Than Quang Pagoda, standing tall at 3.95 meters, with impeccable casting quality, making it Vietnam’s first Amitabha Buddha bronze statue.

Notable works include the black bronze statue of Tran Vu at Quan Thanh Temple, cast in 1677, and the bell of One Pillar Pagoda.

Despite the changes, Ngu Xa has preserved some of its cultural heritage. 

Ngu Xa Pagoda, also known as Than Quang Tu or Phuc Long Tu, built in the 18th century, is a testament to the village’s past. 

It honors Buddha and Nguyen Minh, the founder of bronze casting in Ngu Xa.
